Do I have the guts?

Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 10:24 pm | In Personal, Photography | Leave a Comment

Do I have the guts? – You know it!! Am I scared of a challenge? – Nope, not skerd! Do I run anymore? Ummm… yeaaah, not so much! But, you know, it wasn’t that long ago; I actually used to run diligently when I was playing tennis in college….. um, wait, I guess that was, what? 10 years ago? Holy Nikes!!! I guess I need to get cracking.

When I heard of Fred Egan’s first Nike+ challenge I was in! The goal was to be the first to run 30 miles. I had been wanting the new iPod Nano anyway, so I traded in my old MP3, got the Nike sensor, ran a couple times and realized I forgot to link it to Nike’s site – so they didn’t count! No big, surely everyone else would be as busy as I was, so I’d get caught up. Um, nooo, that is soooo not how these competitive buggers were. The race started and ended before I “officially” logged my first mile. OOOOkay – guess I’m done with that! ;) (See my entry below about the awesome Sean McLellan!) So NOW, there is a second challenge – this time, it is based on how many miles we can record in 30 days time. I signed up 2 days into the race, but I’m hoping to catch up. Wish me luck, send some band-aids and motrin my way – and out of “friendly” spite, may it rain like cats and dogs in Tennessee and the OC!

Generations of love

I had a great time with this shoot that ended with the beautiful backdrop of Folsom lake.  Four generations of amazing women, who I am very proud to know.

Here is Cassie with her grandma.

Yes, it is funny

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 5:37 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

I got a funny email today from a friend. She told me her story of how, while cleaning in another room, she suddenly realized the house was suspiciously quiet. She went to find her daughter only to discover that her daughter cut her hair. She was mortified. She said she was angry and found herself wagging her finger lecturing about safety, poking eyes out, scissors being a no-no, etc. She left the room and cried; sad that her baby’s golden locks were gone and then wondered if she acted too harshly.   She asked what I would do if I were in her shoes….. hahahaha. Well, let me think…………

Rewind 3 years to these pictures. Here is Nyah, immediately after I told her that “no, we can’t tape the hair back on” – notice the bangs and the left pigtail.

Here is the same little girl after some Salon treatment. Notice the pixie bangs?

So what was my advice?   Laugh- because it is funny as heck!!

Sean McLellan Rocks!

Monday, September 24, 2007 at 11:08 am | In Personal | Leave a Comment

Okay, so I officially suck!  I love competition and I was sooo ready.  But then, as usual, I got distracted!  Fred Egan (www.behindthecamera.com) offered up a Nike + challenge to everyone – the first to 30 miles wins.  Losers have to blog about the winner and send iTunes cards their way.  I was pumped.  Broke out my trusty shoes, dusted off the iPod and ……………….  that’s it.  Swamped with a wedding, back orders, rain, aliens, broken sensor ….. what else can I blame?  Well, I didn’t actually get to participate (officially), as I discovered that my sad little miles weren’t actually being recorded by my trusty new Nike+ sensor – so I suck!!  But that’s okay, it got me motivated to run again, got the competitive juices going and made for some fun blogs reads.  I think I’ll be better fitted for a “how many miles in 30 days”, because I have ZERO desire to get up at 3am to try to log more hours than my competitors!  haha.

So congratulations to SEAN McLELLAN of McLELLAN STUDIOS for his RockStar performance!!!  http://www.mclellanblog.com/.   Jasmine Star (www.jasminestarblog.com) and Shannon Sewell also kicked it into high gear (www.theblankpage.typepad.com/sneakpeek/) and deserve some blog love.

TOTALLY stolen from his blog, here is the WINNER of the photographer’s Distance Challenge:  Superman Sean McLellan!!!  Whoo hooo

Email malfunctions

Friday, September 21, 2007 at 9:54 am | In My Site | 1 Comment

I’m generally pretty good about returning emails.  I aim for within 24 hours, but on weekends, may take a little longer.   So I was a little shocked when I got a call today from another photographer saying that her email to me has gone unanswered.  “What email?” – I asked.  After a few inquiries to other people that I was expecting emails from, I’ve learned that apparently, hers is not the only one that is out there – floating in oblivion.

Soooo - there is obviously a problem with my tana@tanahuffman.com email.  I am caught up on my emails received as of today’s date, so, IF YOU HAVE EMAILED ME and have received NO RESPONSE – Please email me again at tnchuffman@hotmail.com - because I did not get your email/inquiry.

I apologize for any problems this may have caused, I was not aware that there was a problem.  I am very good about returning emails (may take me 24 hours), but I do get to each one, so if you ever send something my way and do not get a response, it is safe to assume it is an error, and not my neglect.  PLEASE, call or resend to my hotmail account listed above.

Thanks so much.  Again, I’m sorry for any problems this may have caused – I promise, I’m not ignoring you!!  :)
