I found a new addiction
Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 12:03 pm | In Clients, Personal, Photography | 5 CommentsI looove getting things in the mail. Getting a card or package (so long as it doesn’t have the word “bill” attached to it) is like a mini-Christmas for me. Maybe that is why I have such an affection for ebay and Amazon – I get to send myself little gifts (enjoying both the thrill of the shop and the joy of the delivery). I must say that I find that I send myself gifts quite often so I was more than pleasantly surprised to receive a delivery this weekend that I didn’t prompt myself! I tore open the box from my amazing clients, Allison and Chris, to find the most thoughtful little package all tied up with a bow. Inside, lay the most wonderfully yummy Red Velvet cookies ever! They might as well have sent me a box of gold for as excited as I got!
Of course I didn’t remember to take a picture before digging into the cream filled middle, but I did snag this photo off the baker’s site:
The tasty treat was ordered through The Sweet Spot on Etsy.com. I had never heard of Esty.com before last month and now I see it everywhere! The Sweet Spot has some really creative deserts all delivered right to your doorstep. How great is that. Take a look at the site is amazing and I’m officially addicted; both to a new online store and to Red Velvet —- yummm!
A BIG THANK YOU to my wonderful clients. Allison, you absolutely made my day! (Now, off to the gym! hee hee)
Sneak peak
Monday, April 28, 2008 at 4:57 pm | In Photo sessions | 7 CommentsSan Francisco, especially on the bay, can get windy, but I have to say that last weekend was one of the more blustery of days that I’ve ever seen. We ventured out to the Marin Headlands for our photoshoot. While I will not be blogging the whole session just yet, here is just a quick sneak peak with one of my new favorite couples, Brian and Ashley.
A few of my favorite people
Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2:06 pm | In Personal, Photography | 1 CommentI know I’ve been a bad blogger lately – I hope to get caught up this weekend. In the meantime, I just have to share this picture sent to me from Sofie and Paul from our trip in Vegas last month. I just absolutely love everyone of these people and can’t explain how truly blessed I am to have these people in my life!
L-R: Ross and Leysa Tanner of Flosites; Jason Cohen; me; Paul and Sofie of Amorphia Photography; the one and only Mark Eric of Trash the Dress, Don’t Box Us In; Rocktographer and many more to come!
(Explanation on my attire: I participated in a photo concept by photographer Paige Elizabeth for her project at the Boneyard involving wedding photographers as brides. Busy with the LLV workshop, I didn’t have time to shop for a dress so I borrowed the dress you see here. Not quiet my taste, but fun nonetheless!)
Tender moments
Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 11:04 pm | In Photography | 6 CommentsOne of the many of the reasons I love weddings is being party to the emotional connection between the bride and her guests. Watching others as they watch the bride is such an interesting journey, as each person has such different responses. However, by far, the most powerful emotion is that of a mother or father watching their daughter, their baby girl, put on her wedding dress as she prepares to enter a new life.
This particular moment was particularly poignant for me, as I had the pleasure of speaking with the mother of the bride for some time while the bride was getting ready. Near us, standing near a window, the bride looking quiet like an angel, the mother proudly held back her tears while she expressed to me her love and adoration for her daugther – her baby girl – and how as an adult she truly became her best friend. She continued on about the range of emotions she was feeling, and as my own emotions crept slowly into my throat, I viewed this beautiful sillohouette, imagining the day when I would be standing there looking at my own daughter – MY baby girl. At that moment, lost deep in thought, I vaguely heard the bride call for help with her dress. As several bridesmaids began to answer, the mother quickly swept passed them all to take her rightful place at her daughter’s side. The moment between them was undeniably beautiful and I stood back in quiet amazement of the emotions of a dress, a mother and an angel.
Oh so true

The last four months have been a whirlwind – admitedly hectic at times, but more fulfilling than I can describe. I’ve been involved in many projects that involved extensive planning and have done a fair share of traveling. I’ve been blessed to have been mentored by some of my favorite photographers and have made invaluable friendships. Add to that a wonderful base of new clients – I couldn’t be happier! I have been actively working on some exciting things: a new website, new marketing, new album company and framing company and (shhh!) even a new studio is in the works. So while I’ve been absent from updating my sites lately, I’ve honestly been hard at work - really, I have! So much so that I’ve actually been absent – does that even make sense?! So I just couldn’t contain my laughter when I saw this cartoon. Do you think it was written for me?
So I just had to laugh at myself for a moment and take the time to thank my wonderful clients for putting up with my website-update absence as I continue in my perfectionist ways to make my site as pretty as a Vera Wang dress on a sunshiney day!
Back home
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 12:22 pm | In Personal | 3 CommentsI’ve just returned from Seattle, WA where I was fortunate enough to have been able to shoot at a lovely wedding just outside the Port of Tacoma. I made the most of my short weekend by meeting up with some wonderful friends for dinner and drinks (driving a rental in the snow no less): John and Jenna Karwoski and Steve Smith & Larry Legler; and of course a (far too brief trip) up to see Casey and Danielle with MindCastle Studios for a quick lunch and stroll on the beach. As I’ve said a hundred times, I just feel alive when I’m back in Washington and the amazing friends I have there are just the cherry on top of the large bowl of dessert! I’m so thrilled to have a few more photography assignments up north this year, and look forward to many, many more trips to my own little slice of heaven!

With several trips to Washington on calendar this year, contact me if you’d like to arrange a session while I’m there ~ I’m more than happy to oblige!
