Website is down

The company that hosts my server is having technical difficulty this week and are running backups on all their servers – this affects some sites and not others. Up until today, I was fortunate enough to not be one of those affected, but today I became aware that my site is one of the ones having problems. Hopefully everything will resume its normalcy soon. Thank you for your patience as we wait for the problem to be fixed.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. Check back in for more blog posts – I’m on a roll! :)

*ETA – I just found out that my email is now affected too. If I don’t respond within 24 hours, please know that I probably didn’t receive your email. Please check back in for updates.

I’m widdling down my list of sessions to post and am just now going through my pictures of the beautiful Leysa from Vegas. This has to be one of my favorites!

Cinderella and the slipper

It’s hard to take a bad picture of Leysa.

Okay, I’m still working on getting caught up …. more to come.

It’s getting late, but I wanted to show a quick sneak peak at some of the fun pics I took of the lovely Paige Elizabeth at the Boneyard in Vegas. More to come. (And if you haven’t checked out Paige’s work – run, don’t walk, on over to her blog. She really is amazing!)

And for those of you who know Paige, you can attest that her laughter is one of the most contagious and amazing characteristics about her. You can’t help but smile in her presence. (What are you still doing here? Go check her out!!) ;)

Great ideas come from great people

I was really excited – at first. When I first talked to photographer extraordinaire, Paige Elizabeth, she excitedly explained her ideas for a concept shoot to take place at the Las Vegas Boneyard. She wanted to gather approximately ten female wedding photographers who were themselves married and showcase them as brides in a fun spin. She had grand ideas to recreate sort of an old school, Annie Leibovitz Vogue cover, adorned with vintage cameras and all. I was excited to be a part of what I knew was going to be a successful shoot, with a photographer I adored no less, but then panic set in. I have been married for many years now. I have two children, and I knew that there was no way that my wedding dress was going to fit – and I knew with my Chipotle addiction, that there was no way I could lose 100 pounds in time! No amount of tugging, pulling, crying or wincing was going to make that gown fit. No problem, Paige told me, I could run over to David’s Bridal to find something on sale. So that was the plan – I would find a fake wedding dress so I could participate – and I would somehow convince myself that I was a hottie hot hottie.

Well, reality set in. After a hectic week in Vegas planning our Leavin’ Las Vegas workshop, running around like crazy, time got away from me and I never did get to shop for a dress. To add to matters, I had my own shoot at the Boneyard the hour before Paige’s shoot was to begin, and the desert heat killed my curls and makeup. Luckily, Paige had backup dresses and I was able to throw on a fun, retro, 70’s throwback just in time to join the group. So while I didn’t feel like the sexiest married lady out there, just being around a strong group of women was what I needed and I had an amazing time. Paige is contagious and she truly is something else. I can’t wait to post pictures I took of her at our own private shoot.

This month, we were surprised to see that Paige’s work was picked up in this month’s edition of Rangefinder magazine, with a great writeup on the event. The women involved are all such talented photographers, and I have become friends with some of them over the last year. So, despite my moaning and groaning over the gown and the heat, I had such a great time and I can’t thank Paige and the other gals enough. I can’t wait to see the groom’s shoot next year in Vegas. Paige certainly deserves all the accolades coming her way!

Blogging is hard work

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 9:10 am | In Photography | 1 Comment

Okay, so maybe not that dramatic, but I do find that in my daily routine, blogging gets neglected.  As I’ve said many, many times – I’m a bad, bad, blogger!

All that will change my friends, as I am currently working with the fantabulous guys at Flosites for my new Flosites blog!  How cool will that be?!  If you haven’t worked with Ross at Flosites – you need to rush on over to his site – you won’t be disappointed!

Well, after a date with my children today, and a new aqua aerobics class, I’ll be trying to get caught up on my blog.  To give an idea of how behind I am on blogging, I have to get up 3 weddings to post; a trip to Monterey; 2 children sessions; 3 high school seniors; a couple from my visit with Ross and Leysa Tanner (of Flosites); the remaining Vegas pics; a bridal shoot I took of the beautiful Paige Elizabeth and a super fun couples session!  I’m giving myself a deadline – and I’m sticking to it!!!  Not even Dr. McDreamy can tear me away.  From next weekend forward, I’m booked with weddings each weekend until August, so if I don’t get caught up now, my whining will just increase as time passes – and nooooone wants that!!!  hahaha

Have a wonderful day – I have a feeling its going to be a beautiful one!  (Stay positive in the face of mounds of work; stay positive in the face of mounds of work!!)  Hugs~
