Write it down – this site has moved!

17 months ago, I barely felt the need to have a blog, let alone the need to upgrade! However, a lot has changed since then, and I am proud and excited to say, that I now have a new blog – one that I am very proud of, and one that I could never have imagined without the vision of Ross of Flosites! His friendship has been a wonderful blessing and his design skills are wickedly crazy. If only I had more time with him -oh, the things we could come up with! But, I think I’ve stolen enough of his time, so I’ll leave his inbox alone for the time being! ๐Ÿ˜‰ !

So, without further delay – my new blog is here: www.tanahuffman.com/blog

Please update your google reader, RSS and the like, because I will no longer be posting here. WordPress has been good to me, but it’s off to Flosites land for this girl!

Thanks so much to everyone who has continued to check in with me during my dry writing spells and for those who offer words of support and encouragement via comments. To all of you, I promise to be a better blogger! ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, off you go…. go check it out. And look for a new contest coming up to celebrate someone’s (cough, cough, ahem, ahem) birthday coming up!

Almost time for goodbye (to this blog, that is!)

In just a few short hours, my new blog will be up. This blog is no longer being maintained, so the headers and background have disappeared. That’s okay, on to newer and better.

Stay tuned……………..

Get Hitched – Give Hope

Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 9:40 pm | Posted in Photography, Show Some Love | 2 Comments

My lovely friend, Laurel McConnell, has been hard at work with five other great ladies, to do something great for the Seattle community. Their brainchild, Get Hitched – Give Hope, is Seattleโ€™s first non-profit organization aimed at brides & grooms as well as vendors in the wedding industry that is dedicated to raise money for great causes!!

Date: October 23rd starting at 5pm at the newly renovated Arctic Club Hotel located at 700 3rd Ave. at Cherry St., Seattle, WA 98104

Details: Get gorgeous goods while giving back! Top notch vendors and businesses have donated some great items that are useful for your wedding (and most can be used by anyone, so drag your moms and co-workers over too!). There will be drinks, appetizers, auctions, & raffles. Put on your cocktail attire, and come out to help support a good cause!

The Featured Charity: The Making Memories Foundation. The foundation grants wishes to stage 4 breast cancer patients. The goal is to be able to raise enough money to grant 12 wishes – minimum!! Which means we need to help Laurel and crew raise at least $50k. I know Seattle – and I know it’s an amazing community -so there is no reason why we shouldnโ€™t be able to raise enough!!!

I’ve got my tickets purchased, and pulling out the cocktail dress to help support this great cause. Not to mention, Seattle’s leading wedding vendors and fantastics brides will be there, so it will be a fabulous night for brides and photographers a like. Great prizes and great company – can’t beat that! Come on out to help!! Tickets are extremely reasonable, and you can buy tickets here.

If you can’t attend, please donate -it’s a worthy cause. You can make your donation here.

Go give the girls at Get Hitched some love – they’ve worked their booties off and could use a hug or two! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks girls – I can’t wait!

A new assistant?

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 2:57 pm | Posted in Personal | 1 Comment

Now that I work exclusively from home, I’ve had to set some boundaries, and my kids know that my office area is off limits – and I have to say, I’ve been reasonably pleased with how well they’ve paid attention to this rule. So I wasn’t sure what “discussion” I was about to have when I happened upon this handsome fella sitting in my chair when I got up to make lunch.

Me: Um, Helllloooo?? What are you doing in mommy’s chair?
C: I’m working mama. I’m your big helper!
Me: Really? My big helper? What are you working on?
C: My compooter and my cal-coo-laator. SEE!!! I make money!

So, I started thinking. With someone as interested in my bottom-line as Mr. C is, I don’t see how I can find a better assistant. He’s hired!

BUSINESS NOTE – I’ve taken the Portrait side of my website down for the time being. I am focusing on my new blog and then will begin to restructure the portrait site, which hasn’t been touched since May 2007!! Crazy, huh? If you have any questions regarding Senior portraits or family sessions, please email me at tana@tanahuffman.com

I’ll let you know as soon as it is up and running!

Sneak peak

Just another quick sneak peak while I continue working on the new blog.

A beautiful beach wedding in Tahoe! More to come.

Kelly and Garrett

Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 5:53 pm | Posted in Photography | 2 Comments

(*Okay, first off, I have NO idea why the blog sizes are all funky – I’m having major technical difficulty – so bear with me on the really small horizontals, and very large verticals!! yikes)

Okay….. now on to our regularly scheduled programming……

Most times at an engagement shoot, I have to coerce my clients into relaxing, into forgetting that I’m there and to just be themselves. Well, all that went out a 200 story window, because when these two are together, nothing else seems to matter. Being the hopeless romantic, my heart just pitter-patters when I see such true signs of affection and trust.

Kelly and Garrett are one of my 2009 weddings in Sacramento, and it almost seems too far away! I flew in for the weekend and we spent several hours just wandering around and I think I was having so much fun knowing that I wouldn’t see them for awhile that I just plain wore them out… “How about over here guys…. just one more picture here……ooh, ooh, I like that wall!” and then finally, “Oh, okay guys, it’s dark, I guess I should let you go home!” ๐Ÿ™‚

Garrett is a pitcher, and surprised Kelly with their proposal on the baseball field, so it seemed only fitting that we headed out the mound for a few shots. Again, like I said, they weren’t just pretending I wasn’t there – I truly wasn’t! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here you go guys, I honestly can’t wait until next June!

A fun new job – Don’t Box Us In

Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 6:03 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

It is no surprise to those of you who know me or who read my blog entries, that my friends mean the world to me – they are a constant source of guidance, laughter, honesty and hope. I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Mark Eric more than a year ago, and over time that friendship has turned into quite a cornerstone in my life, and with it new friendships and invaluable business guidance have followed. I was lucky enough to meet, and help out, Sofie Louca, Mark and Jason Domingues with the Leavin Las Vegas workshop earlier this year. The amazing connection I felt with the three of the them was instant, and I was humbled to recently receive their kind and gracious offer to come on board as a Don’t Box Us In administrative member. In my new daily work routine, I checked the DBUI blog, only to be greeted by a sweet welcome from the gang.

In case I haven’t mentioned it lately, I truly am blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people, and doing a job that I absolutely love.

Thank you guys! I can’t wait to see Don’t Box Us In grow and flourish!

(Don’t forget to head on over to the blog and participate in the latest contest – show us your RED. The lucky winner is set to receive some great Vintage actions from Red Leaf Studios)

My friend the supermodel!

Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 10:42 am | Posted in Photography | 1 Comment

As you already know, two of my most favorite people are John and Jenna of JFK Weddings. They are amazing friends and extremely talented photographers and I was so excited to go to the newstand Friday to pick up my own copy of the recent edition of InStyle Magazine. Most photographers aim to be published in a magazine, but what is really cool about this one, is that not only is JFK Weddings featured, but look who the hottie McHottie model is!! Whooo hoo Jenna!

Go check it out – and head over to their blog and give them some blog-lovin’. Congratulations you guys!
